Music You Should Know: April 2012

Spring has sprung and we’ve brought you some new music. This month we feature new music from Of Monsters and Men, M. Ward, and Jack White.

April 3:

Of Monsters and Men – My Head Is An Animal

This Icelandic folk pop band is ready to blow like Eyjafjallajökull did in 2010. Of Monsters and Men’s sound is most reminiscent of Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. Their music is upbeat and raw with just a bit of whimsy on the side. The lead track “Little Talks” is a great indicator of the band, great folk pop you can dance to.

April 10:

M. Ward – A Wasteland Companion

M. Ward returns with his first album since 2009’s Hold Time. During his time off, you may have heard some of his other work like She & Him and Monsters of Folk. A Wasteland Companion is what to expect from M. Ward. The album is a great mix of folk, pop, and 50’s ish rock that is highly enjoyable.

April 24:

Jack White – Blunderbuss

Think of every band or project Jack White has been apart of and you have Blunderbuss. The album’s sound ranges from some soulful r&b to guitar heavy rock. Jack White’s musical genius shines through in this album, and especially in the first single “Love Interruption.”
